Every Ticket Gives Back

 

 The BIG Plant Expo, we believe plants have the power to inspire, educate, and strengthen communities.

That's why $1 from every paid admission ticket is invested directly back into our community through The BIG Plant Expo Education & Growth Fund.

Every ticket purchased helps fund classroom horticulture grants and student scholarships, investing in plant education and the future of the horticulture industry.

Classroom Plant Grant

 

The Classroom Plant Grant supports public school teachers and organized homeschool groups across the United States serving students in Kindergarten through 8th grade by providing funding for hands-on horticulture education that inspires curiosity, environmental stewardship, and a lifelong love of plants.

Project Period: 2027–2028 School Year 

Application Deadline: July 15, 2027, at 11:59 PM ET

Recipients Announced: August 1, 2027

Grant Funds Distributed: By August 15, 2027​

Qualifications

  • Public school teachers within the United States

  • Authorized leaders of organized homeschool groups or cooperatives within the United States

  • Projects serving students in Kindergarten through 8th grade

  • ​

Grant funding may be used for educational horticulture projects, including:

  • Classroom plants

  • School gardens

  • Pollinator projects

  • Greenhouse supplies

  • Plant science education materials

  • Environmental learning programs

  • Other approved plants and growing supplies

Our goal is to help educators create engaging learning experiences that connect students with plants, science, and the natural world.

2027 Classroom Plant Grants

Through The BIG Plant Expo Education & Growth Fund, we plan to award:

🌱 One (1) Grand Classroom Plant Grant — $1,000

🌿 Two (2) Classroom Plant Grants — $500 each

🎓 Future Growers Scholarship

The Future Growers Scholarship supports graduating high school seniors throughout the United States who plan to pursue higher education or professional training in horticulture or another plant-related field.

Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Be a graduating high school senior (Class of 2028 and beyond)

  • Be a resident of the United States

  • Be accepted to or planning to enroll in an accredited college, university, technical school, or other registered horticulture education or training program

  • Plan to pursue a degree, certification, or professional training in a plant-related field

Eligible Fields of Study

  • Horticulture

  • Agriculture

  • Botany

  • Environmental Science

  • Greenhouse Management

  • Landscape Design

  • Arboriculture

  • Floriculture

  • Nursery Management

  • Plant Conservation

  • Sustainable Agriculture

  • Entrepreneurship / Starting a Plant-Related Business

  • Other related plant-focused fields

Selection Criteria

Applications will be evaluated based on:

  • Community involvement

  • Academic achievement

  • Leadership

  • Passion for horticulture and the plant industry

  • Future educational and career goals

Our goal is to invest in the next generation of growers, educators, researchers, conservationists, entrepreneurs, and industry professionals who will help shape the future of horticulture.
